Obama and Clinton are the frontrunners and Edwards the main outsider - The total of other candidates has dropped  from 35 to 20%, which tends to confirm that democratic party primaries will nominate one of the three (Clinton, Obama or Edwards). However the Democratic and Republican candidates are effectively chosen by the February primaries. Winning candidates will be the ones collecting a majority of committed delegates to win their party's nomination.
